rescueME EDF2 electronic LED distress signal, buoyant

Description

The buoyant rescueME EDF2 meets the requirements of RTCM 13200.00 and is classified as an electronic visual distress signal device (eVDSD). It flashes the Morse SOS with red-orange and cyan LEDs – three red-orange flashes for the “S”, three cyan flashes for the “O” – and simultaneously with an infrared component optimised for the night-vision equipment of search and rescue services. With at least three hours of operating time, it exceeds the RTCM requirement by 50 %.

Selection guide

The EDF2 is powered by 8 CR123 batteries, which are not included. Whether an electronic signalling device may replace mandatory pyrotechnic distress signals is determined by the respective flag state – recognition in the USA does not automatically apply to other countries.
